In our view we feel that some of this is a load of rubbish. Now a day’s men and women have equal roles in the family for example the housework and child care can be shared between both parents not just by women due to the fact of conjugal roles. Men and women now both go out to work in society so that they are both equally the breadwinner. In some cases men are said to be a house husband meaning that he stays at home looking after the children while his wife or partner goes out to work.

I think that women can be dominated by men if they are put into a specific situation, but I do think that this is not right. I think that women are just as good as men and they have already started to prove this.

Do we agree with this? Well, yes and no. In some cases men do rule the roost. They go to work, earn a living while their wives look after the home and bring up the children. In other cases, both parents work and the children are looked after by a child minder. Finally, but very rarely, the wife will go to work, earn a living while the husband looks after the home and brings up the children. This last one may be rare but is becoming more acceptable in society.
So, we do believe that there is some patriarchy especially in the home but it could be changing to become more equalised within both society and the home. When the family realises that men and women DON'T have specific jobs, patriarchy will have disipated from the home. This in turn would have an effect on society and the way in which it works.

Focussing attention therefore on what used to be regarded as "political" - Parliament, laws, campaigns etc. won't solve the essential problem of men dominating women.
Can any of you workshy (

Means when the reinforcement and the establishment in the family relationships are personal and political.
We therefor don’t agree
However few years ago this theory would have been right as men did benefit in our everyday lives and dominated women.
But time and generation has changed therefor we don’t agree with this theory of Patriarchy.

Men still dominate the society but not as the whole society, time has change and the independant of women has grown. Even through this has change women are still seen as the weaker sex.
Hopefully over time, men and women will have equal rights and both have a fair chance of getting top jobs.

We disagree with this because we believe that men and women have an equal social status in society, as women have become more independent and laws have been introduced.
Although this was the case many years ago!!

We both agree that the personal political still exists as if you look and stattistics for the top jobs it is clear that men hold a large majority of them even though these figures are decreasing we agree that it still exists.

Men see that women are there for the biological side of life. They give birth to the children and the men will provide money for them to live on.

Good points
Don't forget also that girls career expectations may be limited by being socialised into a socially constructed idea of what is "feminine". The family therefore as the vehicle for this primary socialisation can also be seen as "political"
