Well I can't vote, but I can comment on Stanley Kubrick. This man only made brilliant films. This wasn't chance. He worked very hard. Today it is hard to see this film as the social context of the cold war has changed. When it was made there was a very real fear that there would be a nuclear war. I can see that many Ib students watching this film would find it difficult to understand the black humour and the national stereotypes - I love the ridiculous British Captain Mandrake, his moustache and "gammy leg" when things get tough - Peter Sellers plays three different people. And what is all that about preserving precious bodily fluids? And what about those names?
The film is a fantastic indictment of the stupidity of human nature, the folly of power and cowardice. The cowboy pilot - was it Slim Pickings? - evidently wasn't told that the film was a comedy... Yeehaa!

Why do I always have to be the first (or rather the only) student to write a comment to these movies? <_<
Ok... Well... Uhm, I would like to agree with Mr. Pheby. But I think, just as Mr. Pheby said, that I just dont find it that funny. I mean I understand the jokes, and the irony of the entire movie, but I just do not find it funny... It is probably because I didnt live through the cold war and that fear of the possibility of a nuclear war (uhm like that time the sirens went off in history, remember Mr. Jones? )... Anyways... I liked it much better than the first movie, which was ok as well, but not something that I would watch for enjoyment. Wel, what can I say? We talked about this movie mostly in class anyways and I think I made all the points then...
Btw, I told my dad that we were watching a Stanley Kubrick film in history and he bought me an entire collection of his films for christmas... :P
